When a man can't get an erection, his doctor checks his
heart. When a woman can't get aroused or sensation changes, she's told to
relax. 😲

Same arteries. Same biology. Wildly different
medicine.

Female sexual dysfunction may be an even earlier warning sign
of cardiovascular disease than erectile dysfunction.
The
clitoral artery is 0.9 mm — smaller than the penile artery,
smaller than the coronary artery. Smallest pipes fail first.

But there's no guideline telling doctors to check. ❎

No......

Estrogen does not increase mortality rates from any cause (including breast cancer). 💥

Testosterone therapy does not increase heart disease, breast cancer, blood clots or cause irreparable harm when dosed correctly. ♥️

Transdermal estradiol does not increase blood clot risk in ANY study. 🥳

And... Avoiding the sun does not make you healthier, happier or longer living. 🌞

What medical myths is it time to reexamine? ⁉️

Estradiol + GLP-1 meds for the win! 💥

Estradiol has direct effects on secretion of GLP-1 from your body.

Estradiol also up-regulates brain GLP-1 receptors and improves responsiveness to GLP-1 in the brain. 🧠

Estradiol and GLP-1 also work synergistically on metabolic factors like visceral fat, blood sugar and inflammation.

In studies, menopausal women on GLP-1s and HRT saw 20-30% improvements in weight loss compared to women taking GLP-1s alone. 💥

Have you combined these two powerfully medications? ⁉️

Osteoporosis/osteopenia is reversible!

Normal bone density by DEXA is above -1.0.
Osteopenia is -1.0 to -2.5
Osteoporosis is below -2.5.

My mom's recent DEXA scan's lowest T score was -1.1. She's ,79 yo and has been working hard to reverse bone loss, including...

🔺Eating 100 g/ day of protein
🔺 Getting 1200 mg of calcium (mostly from food)
🔺 Getting 2000-5000 IU/day of Vitamin D3 + K2
🔺 Taking magnesium and creatine
🔺 Resistance training at home or the gym most days.
🔺 Prioritizing sleep, stress reduction, and healthy food.
🔺 Taking estradiol daily

I'm proud of her. You can do it too! 💪

Your hormones affect EVERYTHING!

Including how fast you metabolize caffeine. ☕

Estrogen and progesterone influence how quickly your liver metabolizes caffeine.

Lack of hormones in menopause can slow metabolism, making caffeine stick around longer.

Oral contraceptives and pregnancy and also slow caffeine break-down. 🥺

During your cycle, caffeine metabolism is slowest when estrogen peaks, just before ovulation.

Have you noticed changes in how caffeine affects your sleep, mood, or other symptoms recently? ⁉️

Women live longer in every society, in every era, all across the world. 💥

Yes, we spend a few more years in poor health compared to men but that doesn't take away from the fact that we have protections built in.

Our XX chromosomes contribute. Partially because so many immune genes live there (and we've got two copies).

And our ovaries offer us huge protections. 💪

For the last few years I've studied female longevity to try to understand both our superpowers and our vulnerabilities.

You don't have to have low testosterone on your blood test to benefit from testosterone therapy. 🥺

Women with normal range testosterone who have symptoms of low testosterone, especially sexual symptoms, still benefit from therapy.

Classic low T symptoms include low desire, arousal problems, org@smic problems. ✅

Less classic (and less studied) symptoms include low motivation, fatigue, brain fog, difficulty forming muscle, difficulty making decisions.

Which hormones actually build muscle in women? ❓

A head-to-head RCT tested estrogen, testosterone, and progesterone on muscle
protein synthesis (MPS) in menopausal women.

The results surprised everyone — including the researchers.

Progesterone therapy increased muscle protein synthesis by 50%. ✅
Testosterone therapy increased muscle protein synthesis by 50%. ✅
Estrogen therapy ... had no effect. ❎

Estriol vs Estradiol ? 🥺

They can both be effective for vaginal health and GSM symptoms.

But the concentration is different.

Estradiol is commonly given as 0.01% cream, applied as 0.5 - 1 g several days a week. ✅

Estriol is more often dosed as a 0.3% cream, also applied 0.5 - 1 g several days a week. ✅

You can use either and have good effects.

And, vaginal DHEA is also an excellent choice.

Are GLP-1 weight loss drugs affecting your sex life? 😒

In a Kinsey Institute study, 52% of people said "yes".

Some people saw improvements while others saw reductions in libido and sexual function.

In men, some studies show increased risk of ED (ex: non-diabetic obese men) and some show reductions in ED (ex: diabetic men).

TLDR: The jury is still out on the effects of GLP-1s and sexual health. The key is to pay attention to your own symptoms and let your doctor know if things are changing.

Four things. Actually. 😏

Thermal receipts are coated in BPA, a known endocrine disruptor and reproductive toxicant.

Holding a receipt for 5 minutes can lead to BPA in your urine for up to 9 days. 🥺

Washing your hands after holding a receipt does not remove all of the toxin, as it's absorbed quickly.

BPA can cause fertility problems, pregnancy problems and is associated with obesity (among other things).

So... Opt out. Good riddance. ✅

doctors are missing it completely. 😟

Standard depression screening wasn't designed for hormone-driven mood changes. A new study from Liverpool John Moores University found that HRT reduced suicidal ideation by over
90%!

If you're in perimenopause and struggling, ask your doctor about your hormones — not just an antidepressant.
