If you don't make it ... Take it!

Low dose vaginal estrogen is CHEAP. You only need 2-3 grams a week so this $35 tube from GoodRx or will last a couple of months.

Cost Plus Drugs has the same thing for $13. No insurance needed. 😍

You do need a prescription (sadly) but it's incredibly beneficial and extremely safe (even for BC survivors).

I wish I'd invented it myself but, alas, I did not.

And I also like things like L-Theanine, Magnesium Glycinate, Glycine, and Melatonin.

Estriol = Weak sauce. 😏

Bi-Est = Estriol + Estradiol

Biest isn't dangerous but I don't find it any safer or more useful than plain estradiol.

Estriol 0.3% is a common concentration used for localized treatment of skin and pelvic floor.

Taking testosterone therapy? 🤔

Although benefits can start within a month, they often take 3-6 months to fully manifest.

Similarly, side effects (ex: acne, body/face hair growth, scalp hair loss) often take 3+ months to begin. 😏

This is why we wait AT LEAST 3 months before we increase your testosterone dose.

And, if you're cutting back or stopping testosterone, know that it may be another 3-6 months for side effects to resolve. 😡

We don't dose your thyroid meds by asking for a vibe check. 💥

We don't give you blood pressure medication and say, "Just take whatever makes you feel good"

And yet we tell women to ONLY use symptoms to guide their menopause hormone therapy dosing.

We tell women there's no specific effective dose. Don't worry about lab testing. 😡

This is wrong. Yes, trust your feelings. Yes, symptom matters significantly. But also ... If we want to use hormones to effectively prevent future diseases like osteoporosis, heart disease, and metabolic syndrome then we need objective measures.

Data > Vibes ✅

Two for one estrogen? 🤔

Low dose vaginal estradial can be used on the face as well as the v@gina/vulva.

You should discuss dosing with your physician to avoid getting too much (especially if you're not taking progesterone) but a little dab to both places is well tolerated by many women. ✅

Some women prefer to get their low-dose estradiol compounded with things like hyaluronic acid, GHK-Cu or natural oils for a less "ointment-y" feel on the face.

But, for those on a budget (or just lazy like me!) the pharmaceutical estradiol 0.01% cream works well (but does require a prescription). 🥳

Yes, BRCA gene variants increase the risk of ovarian and breast cancer.

But taking hormone therapy after removal of the ovaries does NOT seem to increase breast cancer risk. ‼️

Low dose vaginal estrogen is safe, even in women with a history of hormone sensitive cancer. 💪

The estrogen considered "low dose* is 10-100 mcg per dose and can be taken as a vaginal suppository (ex: Vagifem), ring (Estring), or cream (estradiol 0.01%).

Vaginal estrogen can reduce recurring UTIs significantly (among other things). 💃

It's never to late to start it and it's an extremely safe wonder drug! ✅
